Sandalwood oil is a fragrant essential oil typically sourced from the bark of the tree in the genus Santalum. In nature it is found in Indonesia, Hawaii, and India. A chemical composition Sandalwood oil is trans-β-santalene, or γ-santalol. γ-Santalol is the major component in the oil, while α-santalene and β-santalene are present but in much lower quantities.
